Step Into The Chill

| Chastity McCloud

As summer heat temperatures continue to rise, Power Mechanical is prepared with a fleet of chillers to assist your company’s needs!

A chiller is a mechanical system used to cool fluids, usually water or a water glycol mixture, for an array of applications. Chillers are commonly used to maintain a specific temperature range for providing air conditioning volumes at both commercial and industrial levels. In industrial settings, chillers are used to cool process heat, whereas in commercial settings, chillers provide air conditioning at volumes residential units cannot provide or sustain.

With the use of its basic components: a compressor, evaporator, condenser, and expansion valve; chillers work by using a refrigerant to absorb heat from the fluid being cooled and then release that heat outside.

Chillers come in two types, air-cooled and water-cooled. Air-cooled chillers use ambient air to pull heat from the condenser coils, whereas water-cooled chillers use a separate water circuit for heat rejection. The choice between the two depends entirely upon customers’ cooling needs, space availability, environmental conditions and energy efficiency requirements in the area.

Chillers play a critical role in controlling temperatures in a broad range of applications to ensure companies are getting the longest possible life out of their equipment and keeping their staff chilled!

Power Mechanical Inc. rents and sells new and used chillers and would be happy to provide a proposal for services!
